About Jarno
Born and raised in Finland, Jarno Karttunen learned the game on the frozen lakes of central Finland. As a teenager he moved to Dallas, played local travel hockey and high school hockey, and eventually competed for the Tulsa Blues in the WSHL and in Finland’s Mestis and third-division leagues before transitioning into coaching.
Today, Jarno leads private lessons and small-group sessions in Richardson, Texas, focusing on skill foundations, edge work, and spatial awareness so players can read the game, find passing lanes, and make smarter decisions on the ice.
“My philosophy is an environment where the player feels comfortable with the learning process — always working on basic skill development while pushing to be in a zone they are not familiar with.”
